An Ode

Rejection-
a bitter pill
that I have swallowed-
the dreaded draught
that even I,
willingly,
administered to others.

I shrink to think-
the damage done-
by my own hands,
the symptoms fanned:
heart complications,
bleeding internal,
trouble to breathing,
skin flushed inferno.
